Welcome to a poetic world ruled by the moon, the inner landscape of emotions, and the lunar tides.

Artist Statement ≈

I write poems about the fleeting, mundane, and chaotic moments of motherhood and womanhood with all the vivid colors of a West Coast sunset.

My poems create heartfelt lyrics and honest images from the daily slices of my life, while infusing them with the enchanting melodies and rhythms of the natural world, the ocean’s mystery, and the mythology of selkies, women who escape their responsibilities and human skins to live inside the sea.

I’m a teacher of poetry who studies the complexities of race, gender, and origin to understand the ever-evolving nature of myself as a woman, a mother, and a writer.

Kelsey Jordan is a poet and writer based in Tillamook, Oregon.

Her poetry explores themes of motherhood, mythology, the divine feminine, and the confrontations of racism and misogyny that come with raising a biracial daughter to embrace her worth, power, and beauty.

Influenced by the moon, the tides, and animal nature of our bodies, Jordan’s poetry is at once earthly and cosmic, rooted in the visceral feelings of bodily desire while gesturing to the divinity and mystery of everyday life. Her writing has appeared in Fireweed, Plant/Human Quarterly, and Women in REDzine. She has her MFA in poetry from Pacific University. With the spiritual opposite of a minivan, you can catch her riding around town in her lime green Charger.
